It's been one year since they broke ground for the new Whole Foods Market in Midtown Detroit and today is opening day! I'm really excited for this for several reasons:
1.) Whole Foods Market (WFM), despite what you've heard, does A LOT for the community. I was always impressed with what they give back in donations, education to it's team members and customers AND support to local companies and farmers. In this way, WFM will be helpful for the revitalization of Detroit.
2.) WFM recently chose to label GMO's by 2015 in all their products - this is a HUGE deal for the organics industry and a massive undertaking on their part as they literally have tens of thousands of products.
3.) I got my natural health start at WFM in the vitamin section "Whole Body"- and for that I will always be truly grateful. Without them, I wouldn't be typing these lines.
While no person, situation or company is without it's flaws, Whole Foods Market is trying to do something better, raising the bar for accessible, natural and whole food. This helps to spread foods gifts of health to people. They have the 365 line which is very affordable and if you take some time to learn to shop there, utilizing their extensive bulk department, on sale produce, and the 365 line - it really is like shopping at a regular grocery store.
In the words of their proud and amazing store team leader Larry Austin, "Get It In"!
Congrats Whole Foods Market Detroit!
